Across the World Sikhs Celebrate Vaisakhi: A Time of Reflection and Renewal

Sikhs across the world will celebrate Vaisakhi, a day of historical significance that paved a way for the future. It was on this day in 1699 that Guru Gobind Singh ji, the 10th Guru of the Sikhs, established the Khalsa comprised of Sikh men and women initiated into the faith. On this day Sikhs received an external identity to bind them with the principles and discipline of Sikhism.

Face to Faith student Grusha from Apeejay School, Pitampura, New Delhi, India  "For those who have seen the Earth from space, and for the hundreds and perhaps thousands more who will, the experience most certainly changes our perspective. The things that we share in our world are far more valuable than those which divide us." These words by Donald Williams hold great significance in this contemporary era and deeply reflect the grave condition that the world faces today. We do not grow absolutely. We grow sometimes in one dimension, and not in another.

The Faiths Act Committee at the University of Toronto held a fantastic year-end event called “Speed Faithing.” The idea of the event stemmed from the desire of our committee members to engage the wider campus community in meaningful interfaith dialogue and provide the opportunity for people to ask questions and share perspectives about various faith and philosophical practices.
