A Year Shrouded in Mystery

We’ve now been here, training in London, for a full two days. It’s been an intense two days, filled to the brim with workshops and visits to various religious sites. If it’s any indication of what’s to come, this will be quite the hectic year. At the same time, it’s shaping up to be a really productive year. Although I look around and find it easy to anticipate loads of work, I can also see the vast support networks that exist - and they’re no meager force. From the IFYC staff to the TBFF staff to the Fellows themselves, there’s a formidable well of knowledge and experience to draw on for both inspiration and wisdom. Although the year promises to be trying, and frustrating and even frightening at times, my impression from the start is that it’s not going to end with heads cast low. Not only do we have competent people, we also have impassioned people. This is not a group comprised of those who have only abstract ideals to follow. It’s not a group which sets out to simply change people’s social situation. It’s very much a group which sets out to change people’s whole lives. The religious inspiration lends itself to a transformation that endures. While the programming will certainly be important, this year will be made up of the individuals who together, work to shape and create it.
