Best wishes, always.

Once upon a time, there was a beautiful jungle of tall trees and exotic flowers. The many animals that inhabited the jungle were satisfied by their condition. The monkeys would comfortably sit and chatter on the tree branches. The hippopotamuses would float lazily in the river. The gazelles enjoyed races between the trees. While the ants built marvelous colonies beneath the under-brush. However, one terrible day a thick plume of smoke began to rise from the trees. The forest was burning! All the animals quickly ran to the edge of the forest where it met the river. Watching their homes burn, the animals each looked to their neighbor, thinking “this is their fault.” Not a word was said, as all the animals dwelled on their suspicions. Breaking the silence was the sound of flapping wings above. Looking up, the animals saw a small humming bird fly towards the flames where it threw down a drop of water that it had carried in its beak.

The lion called out: “What are you doing? Your drop of water cannot put out the flames.”

“Well I must do something,” replied the little bird, “I can’t just stand by and watch my home burn.”

Inspired by the hummingbird’s actions, the other animals recognized that her words resonated with their values. Quickly they moved into action. Everyone came together, each contributing what they could to the common effort. Working together, the animals saved their jungle home.

This year, we have similarly witnessed the rallying of individuals of faith and communities around shared values.  Reacting to the injustices that plague our world, we have seen inspiring events and collaboration fostered in Montreal, in Canada, and in the World. As part of Faiths Act, young and old have come together in recognition that the prevalence of malaria in today's world is simply an untenable situation. We can no longer sit idly by, and we haven't. Congratulations on that. Together, the 15 Faiths Act hubs across the three countries have raised nearly $100,000 for the prevention and treatment of malaria; this is before the matching grant. That`s incredible!

While this year has been full of excitement and has yielded absolutely stunning results, the successes of an international movement cannot stop here. The successes of our own city will not stop here. This week we met with the two new volunteer coordinators of the Montreal Faiths Act campaign. They're incredibly excited to see things happening in Montreal and have pledged to lead this campaign into the future. Through service projects in our local community and a repeat of the wildly successful U-Night Against the Bite show, Faiths Act Montreal will continue to grow, to thrive and to make a real impact on this city and in the world.

People of faith from around the island have already made a huge contribution to this work and many have committed to continuing it as well. We hope that you will also stay involved so that together, we can continue to show the world that Faiths Act!

Stay tuned for more info as this website transitions over to the brand new Faiths Act Montreal site. We will shortly have up bios and posts by our new volunteer coordinators, Joe and Mariel who can`t wait to meet all of you!

Best wishes, always.
