Leo’s Story

Mr. Leo Saggo (pictured far right, with Area Manager Lindsey Podolanski) is an HSBC Branch Manager in Birmingham. A Sikh, Leo has been interested in the Faiths Act project since we met last year. He kindly lent us his support in December when we raised money and packed gift boxes for a local women's refuge, but last month he decided to go a little further -- and undertook a slim-a-thon to raise money for Malaria No More UK.
'I think it is so important to help others less fortunate than ourselves. This is a really worthy cause. It is terrible that a million people die every year from a preventable and treatable disease. I decided to be brave and give up some of my favourite foods! Supported and sponsored by my friends, family and colleagues at work, I have managed to raise £500, which will be doubled to £1000 by HSBC.'
We are delighted that Leo supported us in this way. HSBC calls itself 'the world's local bank', and similarly we are calling people to 'think global and act local'. We hope that you are as inspired by Leo's efforts as we are -- and remember, every little counts!
