Meet Ashley!

Ashley Ciglar will be taking over the Faiths Act hub in the Bay Area with Laura Gengler after Tim and Hafsa finish their Fellowship year.

You can contact Ashley at ashley.ciglar@gmail.com.

I became involved with the Faiths Act after listening to a presentation by the fellows at the 2009 IFYC conference.  The Bay Area representatives then showed up on campus and I thought it would be a great opportunity to explore the interconnectedness of social justice and interfaith work with the Bay Area fellows. Since my position on campus is the Social Justice intern at our University Ministry, it made a lot of sense for me to try to work on malaria as one of our many causes throughout the year.

I am inspired to do interfaith work because it is a means of achieving peace and justice in our world.  Interfaith service and dialogue has the capacity to break down barriers between division in society which is a key tenet of social justice. This is one of the msot important things we can do as young people day.

Next year, I am excited about expanding Interfaith Youth Service Days on campus and about integrating dialogue with current service initiatives on campus. I hope you are all excited as well!
