Skydiving for Malaria No More

Young people in London are gearing up to don a parachute, launch themselves out of a plane, and let gravity take its course, all because malaria can and must be stopped.

Malaria No More have recruited 60 people from organisations including Jazz FM, News International, and Malaria No More, mixed in with celebrities Sam Fox, Stuart Manning and Jimmy White. Included in the group are 11 young people from different faith groups, getting together to make up Team Faiths Act.

Each diver has set about to raise £750 for Malaria No More, and already reports of fundraising events are rolling in. We’ve had sponsored silences, cake sales, and an enslaught of sponsorship forms making their way to friends and families.

On Monday, Sarah Mcallister, Natalie Palmer, Martha Mcallister, and myself got groups of friends together for a “Back to School” pub quiz. A great night of tricky questions, 90s tv theme tunes, blackboards to record the scores, and nearly £300 raised.

Efforts continue to get to the target of £750 pounds by the time of the jump. With Tony Blair’s offer of personally matching all funds raised, any donations made will automatically go twice as far in making a difference. Fancy sponsoring one of our divers?
