Faith fellows speak from the heart at peace event by Raheel Raza

On January 10, 2010, four Faith Fellows attended an event hosted by my Forum for Learning and Eternal Spring United Church in Hamilton. This is a learning partnership and every year we host a peace prayer. Having met the Faith Fellows at our meetings, I was enthused about the work they do and youth are an integral part of our outreach. It was very important to let people know that there are many paths to peace. One of them is to eradicate disease and poverty so that humans can live in peace.

The Faith Fellows who attended were:

Areeba Jawaid, Erica Spracklin, Hilary Keachie and Danny Richmond. After introducing the concept of Faith Fellows and explaining the work they are doing, I invited each of them to come and speak about how their own faith informs their work. Considering that we were in an interfaith environment with about 10 faiths represented, their insights were very well received. They had also set up a table with information and people were asked to stroll and ask questions.

From the perspective of awareness, it was a very successful event and made more successful by attendance of faith fellows. Danny Richmond even made it to the Hamilton Spectator with his photo and a quote which you can view here.
