My How To Guide

1. What sort of event?

We have provided some ideas but the possibilities are endless! We want YOU to get creative. What do you think a Faiths Act event might look like in your village or city, in your temple or synagogue, or with your friends? How could you raise funds and awareness about malaria? Let us know your ideas here

2. Decide where

You could hold event in your home; your place of worship; at your college or university; at a community centre or civic venue; or on the sports field or even in your street! Find the person in charge of your preferred venue, tell them about the event you’re planning, and ask if you can use their premises or facilities. It’s best to do this as soon as possible.

3. Decide when

Depending on the type of event you are holding and who you are inviting, you might want to hold it at lunchtime, in the evening or at the weekend.

If you are inviting people of different faiths, it is a good idea to take into consideration times of the day or week that are important for religious observance which vary widely within faiths and between individuals. If in doubt, just politely ask friends and invitees when would be the best time for them.

4. Get people involved

You can involve anyone in your event, but it is often easiest to start with people you know like your family, friends, colleagues and neighbours. Encourage people from your Temple, Synagogue, Church, Mosque, Gurdwara or other place of worship to get involved. If you can, invite people of other faiths to join in. These might be people you already know, or you might want to reach out to people on you campus, at work or in your neighbourhood who you do not yet know.

5. Publicise your event

Our Toolkit has lots of publicity materials you can download. Use them to make sure as many people as possible know about your event. You might want to tell your local newspaper or radio station about your event.

6. Download or order your Tools

There are lots of resources in our Toolkit that you can download, print out and use at your event. You can also order leaflets, DVDs and demonstration bed nets from us here.
