Get together... make a difference
Why Malaria?
Despite the fact that the world has known how to beat malaria for more than a century, it is shockingly the most devastating global health crisis in the world today, killing up to one million each year. Malaria deaths and poverty are integrally connected. Malaria is both a cause and consequence of poverty, affecting the growth of individuals and nations.
Why Faiths?
If faith communities work together, they can raise vital funds and increase pressure on governments in the developed world to meet their commitments. Faith communities can do so much more together than they can achieve apart. When people of different faith work together, they help build understand and respect between faiths, too.
What Can I do?
Faiths Act is a global movement of grassroots action: ordinary people of faith across the globe, working together to raise awareness and funds to end deaths from malaria.
- You can be part of the action and get your community, church or college involved.
- Sign the Faiths Act declaration Join the movement and spread the word
- Meet the Fellows Get involved with events already taking place in the UK, USA and Canada
Organise an event It’s easy! Get together with friends, watch The Story of a Bed Net and raise funds for lifesaving bed nets at the same time. No matter how small your event, it will be part of the global Faiths Act movement.
Here’s an example of Faiths Act event run by one of our Faiths Act volunteers....
Zac from London arranged a Faiths Act charity night with friends in order to raise funds and awareness of the impact of malaria in Africa. “15 of us got together at my house and had a games evening. The Bed Net video was shown and I spoke for a couple of minutes afterwards emphasising the key points of the video. The night was a great success. People enjoyed themselves and learnt about an issue they previously knew very little about. We raised £55 which will buy 11 bed nets - and each one will protect a whole family from malaria."
